Alcohol use over Cesar Chavez weekend may have resulted in two deaths
Hard partying over the Cesar Chavez Day holiday weekend may have resulted in the deaths of two people.
The Butte County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Angela Scatena, 24, of Chico, was pronounced dead at a residence on Ivy Street some time before 8:30 a.m. on Friday (March 31). Though Scatena’s official cause of death is pending autopsy results, a spokeswoman with the coroner’s office confirmed that alcohol overdose is suspected.
Enloe Medical Center spokeswoman Christina Chavira confirmed Wednesday morning that a young man named Owen Euser had died at the hospital this week. He graduated from Chico State last May. Several sources suggested his death may also have been alcohol-related, but that could not be confirmed as of press time.
