“World Premiere” usually overstates things when it comes to CD release parties for local bands. The events at Tower Records and the Brick Works this Tuesday, however, might actually merit the tag.

Chico rockers Number One Gun take a pit stop from their endless summer tour to give the hometown crowd first crack at their Warner Brothers-distributed debut album, Celebrate Mistakes. Beginning with an in-store acoustic set at Tower and moving on to the big stage at The Brick Works, Aug. 12th will mark the actual “World Premiere” release date for their new CD.

In a year’s time, Number One Gun has gone from a local garage project for singer/songwriter Jeff Schneeweis and drummer Jordan Mallory to a full-time rock unit, with a record contract in hand and life on a road full of sold-out concerts.

“It’s been the coolest thing,” Schneeweis recently shared. “We all went to school together, and we’ve all been friends for so long.”

After adding the impressive Chico rock pedigree of Ben Tietz (Either, Isabell) and Trevor Sellers (Either, Isabell, Tenfantel, Cowboy) to the mix a year ago, the band signed to Christian rock label, Salvage Records. Bringing an edgier guitar attack to the stage than the average Christian band musters, the band struck a chord that promises to sustain indefinitely in the wake of their new album.

This show will bring out the youth group crowd for sure but make no mistake: If you’re into pristine hooks and a high-energy Emo-ish guitar attack, you need to come out and enjoy a good old-fashioned Chico-rock happening. Plus, they’ll be filming a video. This is your chance to pay proper homage to guitarist Tietz.
