River Stage, which has compiled a stellar record over 15 years, marks the departure of founding artistic director Frank Condon with a staged reading of The Little Mermaid Is Not for Children by Alina Trowbridge on Friday and Saturday nights (July 30-31) at 8 p.m. Saturday’s performance will be preceded by a 6:30 p.m. buffet celebrating Condon’s work. Artists affiliated with River Stage, as well as patrons who have enjoyed River Stage shows, are invited.

The Little Mermaid Is Not for Children focuses on a woman experiencing a midlife crisis of fairy-tale proportions, and draws on the tale of the Little Mermaid to explore how people face—or don’t face—their midlife demons.

River Stage is at Cosumnes River College, 8401 Center Parkway. Admission is $7 general, $5 for seniors and students. For more information or reservations, call (916) 691-7364 or visit www.riverstage.org.
