This week the Main Street Theatre Works debuts The Explorer’s Club, a colorful period comedy set in 1879. The show, which will be staged outdoors, tells the story of an intrepid female explorer who joins a Victorian era explorer’s club in London. As such, several stodgy old gents grumble about admitting a woman and chaos and intrigue soon ensue. $12-$20; 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 1127 N. Main Street in Jackson; (209) 295-4499; www.mstw.org.
