Calling all shutterbugs

Have you ever wanted to see your photography in print? Project EverGreen, a nonprofit organization based in Minnesota, is hosting its second annual Because Green Matters photography contest for its 2008 calendar.

This organization dedicated to “raise awareness of the environmental, economic and lifestyle benefits of landscapes” is looking for photographers’ best shots of well-maintained green spaces—parks, gardens, nature preserves … you name it.

Whether you’re an amateur or professional photographer, this is an opportunity to show others how you view our beautiful green spaces and to support a worthy organization. I was thrilled to see its most important community campaign is GreenCare for Troops. Project EverGreen provides free lawn care for United States military families whose primary breadwinner is deployed to the Middle East. Even a simple helping hand with lawn care provides relief for military families who experience unique financial and emotional challenges, especially when a family member is deployed.

There is no cost to enter and all photos must be received by Aug. 1, 2007. Winners will receive a $100 gift certificate to a big-box store. For more information, please visit www.projectevergreen.com/newsroom/2008calendar.html.
