Romeo Must Die

Martial arts star Jet Li stinks up the place with this dreadful action pic that makes no sense. The plot involves some greasy businessman trying to build a football stadium on the water in the Bay area, and two rival gangs competing for real estate for the project. A man and woman from each faction become friends, so that’s how Romeo works its way into the title, but romance is absent from this one, because it would be too funny watching Li kiss anyone. Action sequences are marred by inexplicable moments in which Li’s movements are taken over by computer animation, and he appears superhuman. It’s all quite laughable.
