Wedding Planner, The

San Francisco nuptial wrangler (Jennifer Lopez as a sweet control freak of Italian heritage) gets her Gucci high heel stuck in a manhole cover and a passing pediatrician (Matthew McConaughey) saves her from being flattened by a runaway dumpster. They spend an evening together at Golden Gate Park but the doctor turns out to be the fiancé of one of her clients, and her father has arranged for her to marry a family friend from their homeland—so what’s a single, anal-retentive girl supposed to do? This sometimes funny affair about the basics and fallacies of love wants to be a throwback to the sophisticated screwball romances of yesteryear but is more cute than clever and crippled by dumb progressions in both plot and subplot.
